March 2013: Few of our clients have met Thinus Ferreira, the operations manager at Dolphin Bay.Nevertheless, he works extremely hard behind the scenes to ensure that we provide all our clients with top-quality products,on time.
Thinus’s responsibilities are very diverse, from ordering all the import materials needed for production to overseeing the manufacturing processes and the dispatch of chemicals, co-ordinating logistics, managing exports and organising documentation for our clients.
The scope of his work has increased substantially since he joined Dolphin Bay two years ago, due to the expansion of our market within South Africa and to other African countries. He has also had to specialise in areas including imports and exports.“My job gives me the opportunity to stay in the Garden Route, and not have to fight traffic every day,” he jokes.
“Other than this, the best thing about it is that new challenges arise every day, even though my tasks stay the same.“You cannot control these challenges – even simple things like the weather affect our operations. Planning is very important, but proper risk control and finding solutions to problems are also crucial.“I depend a lot on the help of our technical and sales teams, to help us in operations.
It is the people in the company that make Dolphin Bay so special. They are definitely one of its biggest assets.”“Thinus is a real asset to our business,” says Bertus.“We pride ourselves on meeting strict deadlines and getting this done can be stressful, especially when the shipments of our raw materials are delayed.“Thinus’s efficiency and his sense of humour help him to get the job done.”
